Ben recently received his J.D. from the University of Ottawa, graduating with an option in public law. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours), Specialization in Political Science from the University of Western Ontario. During his studies he interned for the Ticket Defence Program, a charity which advocated for homeless, unhoused and street-involved persons charged with provincial offences. Ben also worked as a law student and Division Leader for the Criminal Division of the University of Ottawa Community Legal Clinic. He has represented clients before the Ontario Court of Justice including the specialized mental health court. Prior to his time at Derstine Penman, Ben worked on cases including mischiefs, assaults, thefts, and possession of controlled substances.
